Rehabilitation Therapy

The VISION COACH plays an essential role in rehabilitation measures and is valuable for evaluation and treatment in the following therapeutic fields:

  • OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
  • PHYSICAL THERAPY
  • SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY
  • POST CONCUSSION REHABILITATION
  • MATURE DRIVER / REHABILITATION PROGRAMS

Medical studies indicate more than fifty percent of neurologically impaired patients have impaired vision and visual-cognitive problems. These problems go far beyond eyesight. Because vision is the process of deriving meaning from what is seen and responding to it appropriately, improvement in visual function and visual information processing abilities can enhance the quality of life for many patients.

Vision is the most important source of sensory information. Research estimates eighty to eighty five percent of our perception, learning, cognition, and activities are mediated through vision.

Occupational, Physical, and Speech and Language Therapy have traditionally been a routine part of care for those affected by such conditions as stroke, traumatic brain injury or multiple sclerosis. Medical care providers are now developing effective Vision Rehabilitation treatments restoring visual function, enhanced muscular coordination and improved neuro-motor abilities.

The VISION COACH is utilized in therapy throughout the continuum of care to treat various diagnosis and disabilities such as:

  • CENTRAL, PERIPHERAL AND SPATIAL AWARENESS
  • DIVIDED ATTENTION
  • VISUAL FIELD DEFICITS
  • FIXATION AND LOCATION
  • VISUAL RECOGNITION AND REACTION TIME
  • VISUAL ATTENTION
  • VISUAL SCANNING AND TRACKING
  • EYE-HAND-BODY COORDINATION
  • BALANCE AND COORDINATION OF MOVEMENT
  • GROSS AND FINE MOTOR SKILLS
  • SENSORY INTEGRATION
  • UPPER BODY RANGE OF MOTION
  • ENDURANCE AND STAMINA
  • COGNITION / REVERSALS

The VISION COACH is a vital piece of equipment for every rehabilitation facility, designed with key features in mind to meet the rehabilitative needs of children and adults with developmental challenges, and/or limitations resulting from stroke, head, orthopedic, and spinal cord injuries, or amputation.

The NON-GLARE WORKING SURFACE is essential for TBI patients, and allows the unit to be used in any type of lighting without restrictions. There are NO VISUAL CUES, unlike other units, which allow the therapist a true assessment of their patient’s abilities. The LARGE WORKING SURFACE is imperative for training the horizontal periphery, our most dominant. Tracking and scanning skills can be developed and enhanced for daily living activities such as driving. The large working surface and exclusive WALL MOUNTED COUNTER WEIGHT SLIDER allows each patient, regardless of stature, to participate and reach all lights on the display, perfect for the pediatric population, and is ADA compliant. MULITPLE PROGRAM OPTIONS, an easy to read COLOR PRINT PROGRAM and exclusive features allow the therapist to customize patient activities with 11 DISTINCTIVE VISUAL FIELDS, including a SEQUENTIAL PATTERN, and 12 SPEED OPTIONS including speed “zero”. Speed zero allows for success and positive self-esteem with each activity programmed, and will not time out on the patient.

120 LIGHTS are available within SEVEN SETTINGS. 80 of these lights have LETTERS AND NUMBERS silkscreened from behind which can be used for speech and language, cognition, reversals recognition, and the uploading of any chosen activity. RED, GREEN, OR RED AND GREEN LIGHTS can also be programmed for a cognitive challenge, and when utilized with the RED/BLUE GOGGLES provided, assess and enhance binocularity (eye teaming). The red/blue goggles, available in adult and pediatric sizes, have been made with sensory sensitive frames and shatter proof, non-distortive lenses which guarantee cancellation when used with the red and green lights on the VISION COACH.

Additional goggles are available by order.

VISION COACH safety features include; a clutter free working area (no table, lap top or wires in the way) as NO EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS are required. The display has ROUNDED CORNERS FOR SAFETY, and a surface which can be sanitized after each use with Cavicide wipes making it nosocomial resistant to super bugs. SECURE MOUNTING with the wall mounted counter weight slider offers stability to those with vestibular issues. The VISION COACH takes up minimal space in the therapy room as it sits just 3” off the wall when installed.

The VISION COACH is a state-of-the-art, high reliability device, embodies low voltage LED technology with a 14,000 hour life span per embedded LED, meaning no bulbs to replace.

Meets EMC safety requirements for hospital use, and is registered with the FDA as a Class 1 Medical Device, 510K Exempt.

The VISION COACH is manufactured and serviced in the USA!
